Hugh Segal was appointed to the Senate in August 2005 after 33 years of service in the public sector. He is a former Associate Secretary of cabinet for Federal Provincial Affairs in Ontario and former Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister of Canada, and has held a variety of posts in Parliament and at Queen’s Park. His work in the private sector includes a regular weekly column on public policy for both the Financial Post and the Toronto Star and regular appearances as a panellist on CBC, PBS and CTV. He has authored several books on public policy.
