Social enterprise organizations—ones that deliver both social and financial benefits—have the potential to make a dramatic impact in Canada, says the Right Honourable Paul Martin. But they first must be recognized by our laws and financial system and then given the sorts of support and incentives that have long been available to business entrepreneurs. Just as Canada has successfully unleashed the power of business to create financial wellbeing for the betterment of the economy, we must, he argues, unleash the power of social entrepreneurs to create social wellbeing for the betterment of society.
